Serifos
What we think "a treasure trove of an island and beach lover's paradise"
Serifos with its sugar-soft sand beaches, turquoise waters and rugged hills, this Western Cyclades Island offers truly laid-back sophistication.
The charm of Serifos lies in it being lesser known allowing it to retain much of its authentic beauty. Before tourism the islanders were miners exploiting the lands natural iron ore until the mid-20th Century. Most visitors stay in Livadia which has a village-feel with authentic bakeries and a variety of restaurants lining the harbour.
Chora
Everyone should discover the magnificent old town of Chora sitting perched up high inland in sugar-cubed perfection. Step back in time and admire the architecture by walking the traditional stone mule path that snakes up through the village. The square of Ag. Athanasios serves as the centre of village life, with its neoclassic Town Hall building overlooking the café’s and tavernas. Explore the winding whitewashed streets with churches and take in the magnificent view from the Kastro (castle).
Discover dozens of beautiful beaches, some may even say the best in Greece, uniquely placed across the island’s rocky coastline. A holiday to Serifos gives you many opportunities to find your own piece of paradise.
Beaches
Some beaches are organised like Livadakia a short walk from the centre of Livadia, stretching along the shore for 850 metres with sugar soft sand shelving into the clear Aegean Sea. Others are hidden in gorgeous coves where clean turquoise water awaits for swimming and snorkelling. Renowned beaches like Psili Ammos or Agios Sostis are lined with Tamarisk trees and framed by nothing more than the wild hills, so do take a beach shade and supplies. Many beaches can be reached on-foot by well-marked paths or take the island bus which serves the main towns of Chora and Livadia in a loop. Or if you are feeling adventurous, we can arrange car or bicycle hire to explore the scenery at your own pace.
